SUMMARY:Hen's Night Out - Flowers & Wine
DESCRIPTION:May’s Hen’s Night Out is Moving Inside  – same experience but in our historic 1860s farmhouse \n2024 is our second year of Hen’s Night Out at The FARM 1780.  This has now become a signature event.  Grab your best chicks and celebrate the spring weather with us! \nJoining us for May’s Hen’s Night Out is Lauren Benjamin with B Dot Ink!  Lauren will be on-site to hand letter gift tags for bottles of wine and/or hand letter your flower pot.  During this Hen’s Night Out\, you will have the opportunity to choose a flower plot & have our team plant it for you with native flowers grown on the farm (additional purchase required). If wildflowers are in bloom\, we may have cut stems available for bouquets.  But since this is an agricultural product\, cut flower availability is based on weather conditions. \nWe’ll have a grazing board setup with farm fresh fruits\, veggies\, and artisan cheeses.  And\, of course\, we’ll have plenty of wine.  This is a great opportunity to grab your mom for a mother/daughter outing to celebrate Mother’s Day.  Or\, grab some friends and knock out your Mother’s Day shopping at Hen’s Night Out. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Hen’s Night Out? \nIt’s a drinking with chickens event!  On a trip to Key West\, I saw this image in the bathroom of the historic Sloppy Joe’s bar and it inspired me to create this series of events at The FARM.  I’ve been wanting to do a drinking with chickens event for several years now and this was just the sign I needed to pull it together!  It’s an excuse to get together with friends & family (or even meet some new people!)\, enjoy the outdoors\, and experience fun on The FARM. \nHen’s Night Out is hosted at the FARMstand bar.  You’ll be surrounded by hens in our blueberry field (this area has been expanded for Spring 2024!)\, able to feed them treats\, and we’ll also let you interact with the pullets (these are chickens that hatched in February). \nEach ticket includes a farm-crafted grazing board with farm-fresh fruit\, veggies\, artisan cheeses & other items as well as bottomless wine (wine chosen to complement the board).  If you choose to purchase Flowers\, Bottles of Wine and Hand Lettering there are extra costs. \nWhat people have to say about Hen’s Night Out:\n\n“It was the coolest experience and I would definitely do it again.”\n\n“Had a wonderful time. Loved the setting and the small group.”\n\n“Didn’t know what to expect but y’all didn’t disappoint! Atmosphere was great\, food was incredible\, and the wine was yummy too! Thank you so much for putting this on – Lexington needed this!!”\nThis is a 21+ only event!  Men are welcome (but only if you can handle it!).

SUMMARY:Rent-a-Chick (Spring 2024)
DESCRIPTION:We are SOLD OUT for the Spring 2024 season.  But you can join the waitlist below. \n[contact-form to=”mckenzie@thefarm1780.com” subject=”Spring 2024 Rent a Chick Waitlist”][contact-field label=”Name” type=”name” required=”1″][contact-field label=”Email” type=”email” required=”1″][contact-field label=”Phone Number” type=”textarea” required=”1″][/contact-form]\n  \nThe FARM 1780’s next round of laying hens will hatch on February 21st. And we have an exciting opportunity for a few families to care for these chicks with our second rent-a-chick program.  Our program includes 1-week-old chicks and all of the supplies that you need to care for them for two weeks.  This is a great opportunity for anyone who is thinking about getting chickens or even those who can’t have chickens because of HOA rules (these will remain in a container that you keep in your home or garage).  When you return your chicks & supplies\, you’ll get a certificate for a dozen eggs to use when your chicks start laying. \nPick-up: Saturday\, March 2nd\, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. \nEach family will receive: \n\n3 chicks (about 1-week old)\nA box for the chicks to live in\nExtra bedding\nFeeders\, Waterers\, and Feed for 2-weeks\nHeat Lamp\nInstructions for care\nA certificate for a dozen eggs when your chicks start lay in the Fall\n\nAt the end of two weeks\, you will return your chicks and equipment to The FARM. \nDrop-off: Saturday\, March 16th\, 1:00 pm – 3:00 p.m. Chicks can only be returned during this window.  If you cannot drop-off during this time\, please do not reserve them. \n$30 per family (at pick-up you will be asked to leave a credit card on file.  If you do not return your chicks for equipment\, we will charge the card on file an additional $30 to cover the cost of equipment). \nFAQs: \nQ: Where will I keep the baby chicks? \nA:  Choose an area inside of your garage or home.  DO NOT place chicks outside on a porch\, deck\, or area where they will be in the elements and susceptible to predators.  Pick an area that allows for proper ventilation while avoiding drafts \nQ: What if we have pets? \nA: Other pets\, like cats and dogs\, need to be kept away from the chicks.  These animals have predatory insticts that may pose a threat to the chicks & there shouldn’t be direct contact between the two.  Obviously\, your pet is a member of your family and so if separation is not possible\, then we suggest reconsidering the rent-a-chick program. \nQ: What is a good age range for Rent-a-Chick? \nA: Any child can enjoy this experience.  And\, we’ve even had adults without children participate in this program! Young children do need to be supervised and you should not allow them to hold the chicks on their own until they have had some practice. Watch for pulling\, poking\, biting\, shaking\, and dropping (this is a natural reaction for a young child who hasn’t interacted before\, but they can quickly learn proper handling) \nQ: What if we decide chickens aren’t for us and we want to return them early? \nA: Our chickens are always welcome home! If you get into this and decide at any point it’s not for you all\, then just give us a call and we’ll schedule a time for you to return them. There are no refunds for early returns. \nQ: What if we really like the experience and decide we want to keep the chickens? \nA: This happens a bunch! We are thrilled when families have such a good experience and decide to continue on their own journey with chickens.  You’ll just give us a call and let us know your intentions.  We’ll then bill your credit card on-file for the additional $30 to cover the cost of the chicks and the equipment.  Send us pics once in awhile!  We love keeping up with their journey.

SUMMARY:Hen's Night Out - Bourbon Heritage Month
DESCRIPTION:Kick-off Fall & join us for the return of Hen’s Night Out.  September is Bourbon Heritage Month and we’re going to celebrate with farm crafted bourbon cocktails and wines & beers aged in bourbon barrels.  So\, no matter your drink of choice – we’ll have something for you! \nWhat is Hen’s Night Out? \nOn a trip to Key West\, I saw this image in the bathroom of the historic Sloppy Joe’s bar and it inspired me to create this series of events at The FARM.  I’ve been wanting to do a drinking with chickens event for several years now and this was just the sign I needed to pull it together! \nThis will be our 4th Hen’s Night Out and whether you’re a regular or a newbie\, I can’t wait to drink with you! – McKenzie Flashnick (co-owner) \nYou’ll be surrounded by hens in our blueberry field\, able to feed them treats\, and you’ll also be able to visit with all of the chickens that we have on the property.  We will have baby chicks that hatch on August 7th for you to hold and interact with.  Additionally\, our silkie hen went broody again and she might have a few day old babies – no guarantees\, but we will keep you updated! \nEach ticket includes yummy food with farm-grown ingredients as well as bottomless cocktails\, wine\, and beer.
