SUMMARY:Rent-A-Chick (Fall 2025)
DESCRIPTION:The FARM 1780’s next round of laying hens will hatch on September 8th. And we have an exciting opportunity for a few families to care for these chicks with our  fall rent-a-chick program.  Our program includes few-day-old chicks and all of the supplies that you need to care for them for two weeks.  This is a great opportunity for anyone who is thinking about getting chickens or even those who can’t have chickens because of HOA rules (these will remain in a container that you keep in your home or garage).  When you return your chicks & supplies\, you’ll get a digital certificate for a dozen eggs to use when your chicks start laying. \n\n\n\nPick-up: Saturday\, September 13th\, 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. \n\n\n\nEach family will receive: \n\n\n\n\n3 chicks (about 5-days old)\n\n\n\nA box for the chicks to live in\n\n\n\nExtra bedding\n\n\n\nFeeders\, Waterers\, and Feed for 2-weeks\n\n\n\nHeat Lamp\n\n\n\nInstructions for care\n\n\n\nA digital certificate for a dozen eggs when your chicks start lay in the Spring\n\n\n\n\nAt the end of two weeks\, you will return your chicks and equipment to The FARM. \n\n\n\nDrop-off: Sunday\, September 28th\, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Due to our Harvest Festival on Saturday September 27th – you’ll get an extra day with your chicks at no charge! Chicks can only be returned during this window.  If you cannot drop-off during this time\, please do not reserve them. \n\n\n\n$40 per family (at pick-up you will be asked to leave a credit card on file.  If you do not return your chicks or equipment\, we will charge the card on file an additional $40 to cover the cost of equipment). \n\n\n\nFAQs: \n\n\n\nQ: Where will I keep the baby chicks? \n\n\n\nA:  Choose an area inside of your garage or home.  DO NOT place chicks outside on a porch\, deck\, or area where they will be in the elements and susceptible to predators.  Pick an area that allows for proper ventilation while avoiding drafts \n\n\n\nQ: What if we have pets? \n\n\n\nA: Other pets\, like cats and dogs\, need to be kept away from the chicks.  These animals have predatory insticts that may pose a threat to the chicks & there shouldn’t be direct contact between the two.  Obviously\, your pet is a member of your family and so if separation is not possible\, then we suggest reconsidering the rent-a-chick program. \n\n\n\nQ: What is a good age range for Rent-a-Chick? \n\n\n\nA: Any child can enjoy this experience.  And\, we’ve even had adults without children participate in this program! Young children do need to be supervised and you should not allow them to hold the chicks on their own until they have had some practice. Watch for pulling\, poking\, biting\, shaking\, and dropping (this is a natural reaction for a young child who hasn’t interacted before\, but they can quickly learn proper handling) \n\n\n\nQ: What if we decide chickens aren’t for us and we want to return them early? \n\n\n\nA: Our chickens are always welcome home! If you get into this and decide at any point it’s not for you all\, then just give us a call and we’ll schedule a time for you to return them. There are no refunds for early returns. \n\n\n\nQ: What if we really like the experience and decide we want to keep the chickens? \n\n\n\nA: This happens a bunch! We are thrilled when families have such a good experience and decide to continue on their own journey with chickens.  You’ll just give us a call and let us know your intentions.  We’ll then bill your credit card on-file for the additional $37 to cover the cost of the chicks and the equipment.  Send us pics once in awhile!  We love keeping up with their journey. \n

These wines will be featured alongside a charcuterie and cheese board with fresh farm grown accoutrements. \nWhat is Hen’s Night Out? \nIt’s a drinking with chickens event!  On a trip to Key West\, I saw this image in the bathroom of the historic Sloppy Joe’s bar and it inspired me to create this series of events at The FARM.  I’ve been wanting to do a drinking with chickens event for several years now and this was just the sign I needed to pull it together!  It’s an excuse to get together with friends & family (or even meet some new people!)\, enjoy the outdoors\, and experience fun on The FARM. \nHen’s Night Out is hosted at the FARMstand bar.  You’ll be surrounded by hens in our blueberry field\, able to feed them treats\, and we’ll also let you interact with the baby chicks (hatching mid-April). \nEach ticket includes a farm-crafted grazing board with farm-fresh fruit\, veggies\, artisan cheeses & other items as well as bottomless wine (wine chosen to complement the board).  If you choose to purchase Flowers\, Bottles of Wine and Hand Lettering there are extra costs. \nWhat people have to say about Hen’s Night Out:\n \n“It was the coolest experience and I would definitely do it again.”\n \n“Had a wonderful time. Loved the setting and the small group.”\n \n“Didn’t know what to expect but y’all didn’t disappoint! Atmosphere was great\, food was incredible\, and the wine was yummy too! Thank you so much for putting this on – Lexington needed this!!”\nThis is a 21+ only event!  Men are welcome (but only if you can handle it!). \nBy purchasing a ticket you understand that all sales are final and subject to our Event Terms of Use.  If you do not agree with these terms\, please do not purchase a ticket. SUMMARY:Harvest Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Annual Harvest Dinner at The FARM 1780\nWe’re excited to welcome you to one of our most special events of the year—our Annual Harvest Dinner\, part of our farm-to-table dinner series that celebrates the best of fall’s bounty. \nThis year’s dinner is truly one-of-a-kind: a collaboration between Chef Fred Neuville—founder of the iconic Fat Hen and former executive chef at Coast Bar and Grill and Rue de Jean in Charleston—and our very own Executive Chef Brian Nelson\, owner and chef at Keg Cowboy. \nFred and Brian go way back—Brian worked under Fred years ago\, and when Fred visited The FARM this February to help celebrate Brian’s 50th birthday\, the idea for this unforgettable evening was born. \nFred is now retired\, making this chef pairing dinner an extraordinary opportunity to enjoy his cooking alongside Brian’s. Even better\, ingredients for the night’s menu are being custom grown right here at The FARM 1780. \nExpect more than just a meal—this is an experience. Great food\, fresh air\, and two chefs swapping stories\, sharing laughs\, and creating an evening that’s as much about the connection as it is about the incredible flavors. \n\nCome hungry and ready for an evening of seasonal flavors\, Southern hospitality\, and a little friendly chef banter. Tickets are limited\, and this one’s sure to sell out fast—don’t miss your chance to be part of it! \nSCROLL DOWN TO PURCHASE TICKETS  \nMenu: \nCourse 1: Farmer Salad – FARM 1780 greens\, candied pecans\, FARM 1780 figs\, goat cheese\, banyul vinegar\, EVOO \nCourse 2: FARM 1780 roasted Dutch Fork pumpkin soup\, sage\, housemade créme fraîce \nEntrée: Local braised pork shank\, white beans\, FARM 1780 patty pan squash\, reduction sauce \nDessert: Lakeside Middle School Sweet potato tart  \nMore About Chef Fred Neuville:Chef Fred Neuville is a celebrated figure in Charleston’s culinary scene\, known for his French-inspired Southern cuisine and dedication to fresh\, local ingredients. SUMMARY:Hen's Night Out - Flowers and Flannel
DESCRIPTION:2025 marks the third year of Hen’s Night Out at The FARM 1780\, and it’s safe to say this has become one of our signature farm events. 🍷 Grab your best chicks and celebrate the crisp fall season with us! October’s Hen’s Night Out brings back some fan favorites while adding new seasonal flair: enjoy a glass of wine\, a farm-crafted charcuterie board\, and the return of our famous Dutch Fork pumpkin soup. Plus\, you’ll have the chance to stroll through our fall flower field to pick your own bouquet and stop by our pumpkin patch for photo ops (pumpkins available for purchase). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Hen’s Night Out?\n\n\n\nIt’s a drinking with chickens event! 🐓 \n\n\n\nThe idea was sparked on a trip to Key West\, where I spotted an image in the bathroom of the historic Sloppy Joe’s bar. It was just the nudge I needed to create this series at The FARM 1780. For years\, I’d been dreaming of a way to combine good food\, good drinks\, farm fun\, and — of course — chickens. \n\n\n\nHen’s Night Out is exactly that: an excuse to gather with friends\, enjoy the outdoors\, sip wine\, and experience something a little different. \n\n\n\nEach event is hosted at the FARMstand bar. You’ll be surrounded by hens in our blueberry field\, able to feed them treats\, and we’ll also let you interact with other animals that we may have on-site that day (not guaranteed). In October\, you’ll also get to wander the fall flower field and take home your own bouquet. 🌸 \n\n\n\nEach ticket includes a farm-crafted grazing board with farm-fresh fruit\, veggies\, artisan cheeses & other items\, as well as bottomless wine (chosen to complement the board). Additional purchases such as pumpkins & bottles of wine are available on-site. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat people have to say about Hen’s Night Out:\n\n\n\n\n“It was the coolest experience and I would definitely do it again.” \n\n\n\n“Had a wonderful time. Loved the setting and the small group.” \n\n\n\n“Didn’t know what to expect but y’all didn’t disappoint! Atmosphere was great\, food was incredible\, and the wine was yummy too! Thank you so much for putting this on – Lexington needed this!!” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a 21+ only event! Men are welcome (but only if you can handle it!). \n\n\n\nBy purchasing a ticket you understand that all sales are final and subject to our Event Terms of Use. If you do not agree with these terms\, please do not purchase a ticket. Due to the nature of the event\, dietary restrictions cannot be accommodated. Gratuity is not included\, but appreciated. \nTo purchase a ticket use the orange “Pay Now with Cheddar Up” button due to a temporary issue with our current website online processor.  The green “Add a Ticket” button below will not allow you to check out. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nDue to an issue with our current website online processor – October’s Hen’s Night Tickets are being processed through a temporary processor.  Please click the “Pay Now with Cheddar Up” to complete your purchase.  We apologize for the inconvenience\, but appreciate your patience as we work to solve the payment issue with our main website.

SUMMARY:Homeschool Day: Spring 2026
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, May 18 | $12 per child (ages 2+) | Parents attend free \n\n\n\nSpring Homeschool Day – May 18th at The FARM 1780 \n\n\n\nA fresh\, seasonal farm experience filled with hands-on learning and spring discovery. \n\n\n\nSpring is wide awake at The FARM 1780\, and our May 18th Homeschool Day invites students to explore what happens on a working farm as crops grow\, berries develop\, and animals settle into the season. This day offers brand-new lessons and activities—perfect for families who joined us for Earth Day and those joining us for the first time. \n\n\n\nEvery activity is rooted in the real work happening on our 8th-generation farm\, giving students an authentic look at how spring unfolds from field to feather. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat Students Will Explore on May 18th\n\n\n\n🌿 Field Work: Spring Crop Maintenance & Trellising\n\n\n\nInstead of planting\, students will roll up their sleeves for the work that comes after crops go into the ground. We’ll focus on how farmers support young plants through tasks like trellising\, weeding\, watering\, and checking plant health.
