SUMMARY:Homeschool Day: Spring 2026
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, May 18 | $12 per child (ages 2+) | Parents attend free \n\n\n\nSpring Homeschool Day – May 18th at The FARM 1780 \n\n\n\nA fresh\, seasonal farm experience filled with hands-on learning and spring discovery. \n\n\n\nSpring is wide awake at The FARM 1780\, and our May 18th Homeschool Day invites students to explore what happens on a working farm as crops grow\, berries develop\, and animals settle into the season. This day offers brand-new lessons and activities—perfect for families who joined us for Earth Day and those joining us for the first time. \n\n\n\nEvery activity is rooted in the real work happening on our 8th-generation farm\, giving students an authentic look at how spring unfolds from field to feather. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat Students Will Explore on May 18th\n\n\n\n🌿 Field Work: Spring Crop Maintenance & Trellising\n\n\n\nInstead of planting\, students will roll up their sleeves for the work that comes after crops go into the ground. We’ll focus on how farmers support young plants through tasks like trellising\, weeding\, watering\, and checking plant health. They’ll learn why these steps are essential to a strong summer harvest and how spring weather affects the choices farmers make each day. \n\n\n\n🫐 Berry Crop Discovery: Blueberries & Blackberries\n\n\n\nOur berry fields will be in a dynamic stage—blooms\, early fruit\, or berry development depending on timing. This makes May a perfect month to explore how berries form\, what pollinators do\, how we protect the plants\, and why each growth stage matters. \n\n\n\nEven if berries aren’t ready for picking\, students will get an up-close look at the season’s progress and learn what it takes to grow fresh\, local fruit. \n\n\n\n\nhow berries form\,\n\n\n\nwhat pollinators do\,\n\n\n\nthe basic structure of blackberry plants and how canes grow and are cared for\,\n\n\n\nhow blueberries develop from flower to fruit and what farmers watch for as the berries begin to form.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🐣 Spring Poultry Life Cycle & Animal Interaction\n\n\n\nStudents will revisit (or discover for the first time) the life cycle of chickens\, learn how eggs develop\, and participate in a hands-on interaction feeding chickens (and possibly turkeys). Spring is still an active\, exciting season in our poultry program. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🎨 Spring Crafts & Outdoor Farm Play\n\n\n\nCrafts will be inspired by spring on the farm—plants\, berries\, animals\, and life cycles—with age-appropriate options for younger and older students.Plus plenty of time to run\, explore\, and enjoy the farm in its prettiest season. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n🎁 Farm Take-Home Item\n\n\n\nEach student will bring home a spring-themed farm keepsake connected to the day’s learning. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Bring\n\n\n\nPacked lunch • Refillable water bottle • Clothes and shoes made for outdoor fun and farm dirt \n\n\n\nParents attend free — explore with your kids or savor a peaceful spring day on the farm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpace is Limited\n\n\n\nTo keep the experience hands-on and meaningful\, this Homeschool Day is capped at 40 children. \n\n\n\nReserve your spot and celebrate Spring on a real\, 8th-generation working farm — where learning comes alive.
