SUMMARY:Planting Day (a hands on learning day)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first-ever PLANTING DAY! \nThis is a FREE EVENT but you must pre-register.  Once registration is full\, we will move to a waitlist. \nDuring our planting day\, you will work directly in the field & greenhouse with our farmers to help plant spring/summer crops.  This is a hands-on-learning day (not lecture based). We will end the morning with a farm fresh lunch.  Attendees will also be able to take home any left over plant starts to create their own raised beds or potted gardens. \nWhat will you learn? \n\nSustainable farming practices\nSoil conditions\, balance and bed prep\nDirect Sow vs. Transplant planting\nTransplant pressure & how to reduce stress\nBenefits of no-till farming practices\nSeed germination\n\nWho should attend? \nAnyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied & full supervised by a parent/guardian \n\nHomeschool families\nSmall classrooms\nAnyone wanting to learn more about growing seasonal vegetables\n\nPlease bring: \n\nSunscreen\nHat\nRefillable water bottle\nWear completely close toed-shoes (preferably waterproof)\nDress in layers (it will be cooler in the morning and warm up as the day goes on)\n\nWhat we provide: \n\nBlack Coffee\nWater\nGloves\nAll planting tools\nLunch\n\nLunch will be served family-style at 12:30 p.m.  It will be a light & fresh farm grown lunch complete with a seasonal strawberry lemonade.

Mary will join us and share the tasting notes and stories of these crisp wines from Catalonia\, Spain. These wines will be featured alongside a spanish cheeseboard with fresh farm grown accoutrements. \n  \n  \nWhat is Hen’s Night Out? \nIt’s a drinking with chickens event!  On a trip to Key West\, I saw this image in the bathroom of the historic Sloppy Joe’s bar and it inspired me to create this series of events at The FARM.  I’ve been wanting to do a drinking with chickens event for several years now and this was just the sign I needed to pull it together!  It’s an excuse to get together with friends & family (or even meet some new people!)\, enjoy the outdoors\, and experience fun on The FARM. \nHen’s Night Out is hosted at the FARMstand bar.  You’ll be surrounded by hens in our blueberry field (this area will be expanded for Spring 2024!)\, able to feed them treats\, and we’ll also let you interact with the newly hatched baby chickens (hatch date early April!) \nEach ticket includes a farm-crafted cheese board with farm-fresh fruit and pickled items as well as bottomless wine (wine chosen to complement the cheese board). \nWhat people have to say about Hen’s Night Out:\n\n“It was the coolest experience and I would definitely do it again.”\n\n“Had a wonderful time.
